LEAD, SD - JANUARY 14, 2013: CAPTION INFORMATION ADDED HERE - A snowcat trail groomer operated by South Dakota Game, Fish & Parks nearly went off of a bridge in the northern Black Hills of South Dakota late Sunday evening. The groomer struck the bridge railing and veered off track and nearly went off of a bridge located on the Mickelson Trail just south of Lead. The trail is regularly groomed as part of the snowmobile trail system. Resources were assembled shortly after noon Monday and responders spent more than 6 hours using straps, chains, a winch and a small excavator to help the 12,500 lb. snowcat get set back on the trail inch by inch. Agencies responding were South Dakota Game, Fish & Parks, U.S. Forest Service, Lawrence County Search and Rescue and xxxxxxxxxxxxx. The snowcat was able to drive away after being reset on the bridge.
